Несмотря на все объективные причины, склонившие RLM в пользу Me 109, решение принять на вооружение только самолет фирмы BFW можно признать ошибочным. Из-за этого решения люфтваффе в течение всей войны располагало единственным типом истребителя с рядным двигателем (1 Великобритания располагала самолетами «Spitfire» и «Hurricane», позднее «Spitfire», «Typhoon»/ «Tempest» и «Mustang». США — Р-39/Р-40/Р-51, Франция — D.520, MS.406, VG.33, Советский Союз — Як-1, ЛаГГ-1 и МиГ-3, Италия С.202/205, Re 2001/2005 и G.55.).
Еще одной причиной, определившей судьбу Не 112, и особенно часто встречающейся в литературе, были соображения технологии. Действительно, Не 112 хотя и имел вполне воспроизводимую серийно при тогдашнем уровне промышленности конструкцию, но все же был гораздо сложнее, чем Me 109. Результатом этого была разница в цене самолетов, а также в трудозатратах при их производстве. Однако, следует заметить, что в то время данный фактор учитывался в последнюю очередь, если вообще имел какое-либо значение. В любой момент технологию самолета можно было переработать, что Хейнкель и сделал, создав Не 112В и Не 113. Первый из них представлял упрощенный Не 112, по сложности мало чем отличавшийся от Me 109. Не 113 мало того, что превосходил по своим характеристикам Me 109, так еще имел и более простую конструкцию. Еще одним аргументом против могут послужить известные примеры, когда в серию шли именно дорогие и сложные самолеты, как это имело место с тем же «Spitfire».
